An incredibly lucrative profession, a forklift operator can expect to earn a salary of between $18,000 and $30,000. Many of the positions that become available in the industry require the operators to be members of a union which will protect them if problems arise. However, to reap any of the benefits associated with the profession, a forklift licence must be obtained. In order to operate a forklift, the person must have a full driver’s licence as well as a good driving record. In order for an operator to gain their forklift licences they must carry out training relating to all aspects of the forklift. You will have to learn about how the forklift works and how it runs and also learn about the safety aspects when you are actually going to operate the forklift. Today there are numerous courses available in order for a person to train and then gain their certification to become a forklift operator. The courses can last for either 4 hours or 4 days, but this will actually depend on the type of forklift the person will be using and the environment in which they will be operating it.
